Business Process Designer

The Business Process Designer is used to define the workflow logic for a particular XML document that is received by the Business Process Server or an e-service. The output would be an XML routing logic file. The e-service would use this output file to route the document to the concerned entities based upon the conditions specified in it. As mentioned earlier, this processing can also involve access control and database processing.

This module offers following functionalities :

  • Open existing DTD files associated with the XML documents and display them in a
    tree format.
  • View the source DTD in textual format.
  • Allow the user to define the conditions based on the values of the nodes in the DTD
file and also the actions to be taken based on the defined conditions.

    The conditions can be:

    • Simple if/else statements
    • Case statements

The routing mechanisms or actions to be taken can be:

    • Email to a specific user/users
    • Queue for an online entity
    • HTTP post the XML file as it is to an URL
    • Database Interaction
    • Access Control enforcement
    • Other pluggable functions and methods
  • Allow the user to route the incoming document to any of the above-mentioned
    destinations.
  • Generate an XML file to store the routing logic.
  • Modify or delete the condition and the action already specified.
